Return with a spin

Do you ever see yourself returning the serve and missing it every time?

Most probably what’s happening is your being played with a very strong spin from your opponent. The best way is to figure out what kind of spin he is hitting and try to do the opposite spin; that way you can negate the spin and you will be able to return the serve with no problems.

It could be a side spin or under spin, tops spin etc.. Good Luck!

I disagree with this article. If your opponent applies bottom spin to the ball and you use top spin to return it, you are only going to increase the spin on the ball and that is going to force you into the net every single time. With skill you might be able to figure out just how high to hit it to get it over the net but it’ll take you a while. But that’s just my opinion. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

i agree you have to do the complete opposite of the spin put on by the opponent

I just wanna ask how can you avoid making the ball out because I always make the ball go out and lose the game.
I wanna know how to avoid it.
    Please tell me.

    Agelica,

It’s just a matter of getting feel for when you hit the ball and not hit it too hard or too high, so try to hit your shots lower (right above the net).

Shane, the article clearly says “The best way is to figure out what kind of spin he is hitting and try to do the opposite spin,” meaning if it is topspin hit a loop.
