How to get good in Ping Pong

March 31st, 2008

I have learned that the best way to get better in anything is practice practice practice. The key in Ping Pong is to try new shots and new spins. For example, try the side spin when your playing your opponent then mix it up to top spin.

Look under the Strokes section and view the videos to learn how to do the spins. Every Ping Pong player has a secret weapon. They only use it when they need it, it could be a special serve they use or a special spin. Every player should have a trick or two to use when they are pressured and on the edge of losing the game.

Learn a few tips and apply them on your friends.

Reverse Shot

April 17th, 2007

How do I do the reverse shot with my backhand?

Keep the face of the racquet facing about 45 degree angle down the table. Once you get the ball high on your end of the table attempt to kind of whip it like you were showing your driving license to the cop. I hope you can see what I mean by that, in any case I’m planning on adding more videos to the site and making them a lot nicer down the road.

Ping Pong Offense

Play offensive Defense

How do I change my defense into offence?

In Ping Pong its very easy to be pressured to play defense when your opponent hit a hard shot and forces you to play the defensive shots.
The way you change that tactic is by hitting deep slice into the table. By doing this method you will force your opponent to retreat a bit and hit a high ball shot in which you can attach it and move towards playing offense.

Are you in table tennis shape?

Well, in order for you to be quick and responsive to the fast game of ping pong. You have to be in good shape. It’s very hard to stay in shape in winter especially. However, I look at it as the time for rebuilding. Take a look at your long term goals and set short term goals for your fitness. Hit the treadmill and the stepper. By the end of winter you would be in the best shape and read for all kinds of challenges. GoodLuck

How to Win

August 30th, 2006

How do I win in ping pong?

I usually have good leads on people and yet still lose; how do I prevent this from happening? Well the answer is simple, it’s all mental. If you keep your mind in the game whether your winning or losing, you are still going to have a better chance of winning then losing.

Key is keep your mind focused on every point, even easy shots or points should be taken seriously. If you were a head 15 -5, you still shouldn’t take it easy on your opponent or lose focus. That’s what defines champions, they give it all they got all the time.

Remember table tennis is a very tough mental game.
